Cape Town Airport, also known as Cape Town International (CPT), is the 2nd largest airport in South Africa. It is a major gateway for tourism in the country seeing millions of visitors arriving in the city of Cape Town annually. Cape Town Airport standards are world-class and the airport was ranked the leading airport in Africa for 2012 at the World Airport Awards.

Many airlines offer direct flights to Cape Town from various locations around the globe. Alternatively, one can fly to OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in the city of Johannesburg and next take a local flight to Cape Town. All airlines operating in South Africa fly to Cape Town Airport.

 

Transport from the Cape Town Airport to your accommodation in the City of Cape Town:

All hotels in the city provides hotel airport shuttle services for a fee, and a reservation is required. Should you choose to make use of this service, please make the necessary arrangements directly with the hotel.

Alternatively you could select the conference airport shuttle option available when you register for the conference, which is available for an additional fee.

Buses from the Cape Town MyCiTi  bus service departs from the airport every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour, and terminate at the Civic Centre. Note that this service only operates from 05:30 – 21:30 on weekdays, and from 06:30 – 21:30 on weekends and public holidays.  From the Civic Centre there are numerous MyCiTi bus lines that can be utilized to get to your final destination.  

Alternatively you can use Uber, metered taxis or rent a car (see below for more information).

 

Transport within the City of Cape Town:

We suggest that you utilize the MyCiTi bus service, Uber, metered taxis or a rented vehicle as the safest forms of transport during your stay  in the City of Cape Town.

 Uber – please ensure that you are already registered as an Uber user prior to visiting South Africa.  In order to use Uber we also suggest that you acquire a sim card at the airport for internet access, since access to WiFi is not yet as ubiquitous in South Africa as elsewhere in the world.

Metered Taxis  – we suggest you make use of the services of either of the following companies:

Car Rental Companies:
